2 v 1

Skill
Dribbling
Passing
Shooting
Defending
Area
1/2 the field
Equipment
All the balls and three cones
Players
Whole team
(6 players)

Procedure – Make three lines of kids. Two lines (attackers) are placed on the 50-yard line and one line (defender) is beside the goal. One of the attacking players has a ball. On command, the two attackers advance toward the goal as a team. The defender also advances and attempts to win the ball for the attacker. When challenged, the attacker with the ball needs to make the choice to either pass (God forbid) or to try to “Beat” the defender by dribbling. If the Attacking team is successful in getting past the defender, a shot is made on goal.

Key coaching points – Team-work, support of the attacker without the ball, Defensive back-up with 2v2

Variations – Add a goalie, Add a second defender

Comments - Passing is something that Grasshoppers seldom do without a coach’s motivation.
