Procedure – Form two lines of players two yards apart on one edge of the playing area. There are two goals placed inside the playing area at oppisite ends. The coach places a ball in the middle of the playing area. On command, the two opposing players race in and try to gain possession of the ball. The object of the drill is to score as many goals as possible in a one minute period. A goal is scored when a player dribbles through either goal in either direction. Multiple goals can be scored in the same goal. If the ball goes out of the playing area, possession is given to the player to not last touch the ball. The coach may want to manipulate the lines so that relatively equal players challenge each other.

Key coaching points – Pushing with a player’s shoulder legal and important part of soccer. Once a player gains possession, it’s all about dribbling past the other player and shooting when the time is right.

Variations –Restrict whick foot they can use to dribble.
